On February 22, Amret Microfinance Institution and AIA Insurance Company organized a workshop to promote awareness of cervical and breast cancer at Amret's head office.

Dr. Bunpa Poly, a cancer specialist, was invited to lead the talk. Over 30 Amret clients came to the workshop to learn more about these diseases impacting the lives of many women across the globe

Dr. Bunpa emphasised that cervical and breast cancer are both preventable and treatable diseases. He claimed that advances in treatment are lifting the recovery rates to almost 100 percent.
Interestingly, he also explained that cervical cancer is more common in Cambodian than breast cancer. While in the rest of the world it is the other way around.

Although both diseases are treatable, women in Cambodia face a high risk of fatality if they have not been educated on preventative measures and don’t receive proper treatment from qualified doctors.

In order to contribute to the wellbeing of Cambodian women, and to raise awareness of breast and cervical cancer, Amret Microfinance Institution and AIA Insurance Company organized the workshop for its clients.
